My opponent here was decent, so we can assume QQ, KK or AA in the hole. What’s my action on 5th?

I'd raise fourth. I dunno about fifth.

I was planning to raise 6th.

Now that i think about it a little more, fifth might be a good time to fold cheaply. You're probably in one of those slightly-ahead-or-way-behind/ win-a-little-or-lose-a-lot situations, and the pot is fairly small. Time to raise-or-fold? i don't know. I have a lot of trouble with this 'standard sitation'...

I am always very wary of the good players that raise a completion with a small card showing.

Roland's playing against a big hidden pair. Its standard to wait until 6th to wait to raise here. His opponently will correctly call any raise on the earlier streets, and roland can safely fold if his opponent pairs his door, or catches another scare card.

I'd call and see sixth. You're either a little ahead or well behind. But I'd say you have the equity (barely) to call. On sixth you can easily fold if he pairs his board or catchs a king.

Roland, I think opponents may be more likely to reraise with Aces then kings here.. I don't know why, I just think it may be true though.. So, I think when the ace comes, its scarier than the K. Just my thoughts..

Okay, I did the math. I’m no good at math though, so maybe someone can check if it’s correct.

I used twodimes to calculate my equity on 5th:

Against KK: .563 (six ways)
Against AA: .137 (three ways)
Against QQ: .837 (one way)

(Beer pointed out that he could have started with a three flush, but assuming he would only raise me with either AdKd5d or AdQd5d adding those hand doesn’t really change my average equity much).

So tell me if this makes sense:

(.563*6 + .137*3 + .837): (6 + 3 + 1) = .4626

So 5th should be a call.

I know that a lot of people here don't like it, but does a decent player really never 3-bet (A5s)5 in your game?

You don't think that TT or the other JJ are possible holdings? I think I probably call down unless he pairs his A - but I tend to play bad in these types of situations.

Most people simply call with that hand at 5/10. But you’re right, it’s a possibility. I’ll do the math later, just for fun.
Where’s Andy? He’s gonna tell you that would be a 2-bet, not a 3-bet. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Well, if he is really likely to have just those hands, why not fold 3rd? (Not that I ever do this, but I always put people on hands I can beat /images/graemlins/wink.gif).

Given the rest of it, I call down unless he makes open pair. I MIGHT also fold if he hit a K on 6th, but I'd want to be pretty sure this guy doesn't "2-bet" on 3rd with a wider range.

Actually these hands are quite popular… /images/graemlins/grin.gif

That's about the closest it gets to a "coin flip" in stud without having identical hands (exception hero's 3rd st hand had 2 flush and villian's didn't)

I don't think I could make that call on the river with just a pair of fives. Good thing he did.
