Howdy folks,

I've trolled here quite a bit recently and have a question that I think would be best answered by the folks here. I've played many years in brick and mortar casinos, across a broad range of games(mostly limit) but prefer to play PL(and multi-table) so I've begun playing substantially more online.

Now comes my problem, I'm not entirely certain what the best method of tracking my success would be. Since the most common games found in my area are limit, I've grown accustomed to using the standard big bets/hr formula but when playing micro-PL it just doesn't work as well. I'm considering using buy-ins/hr as a method, but I just thought I'd ask here before I set up my spreadsheet.

Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance.

BB/hr and buyins/hr are proportional and therefore basically equivalent. For example, on partypoker, 1 buyin = 50BB, using the pokertracker standard that a BB (big bet) is twice the big blind. I'd suggest using BB/hr since that's commonly accepted, and also since if you ever rebuy in the middle of a buyin, your buyin/hr measurement will get screwed up. (BTW, keeping close to the max buyin is a smart move assuming you're better than your opponents.)

To keep track of this sort of stuff, I'd strongly recommend you pick up Pokertracker, since it sounds like you don't have it yet. Your stats will be kept in BB/hr, BB/100 hands, $/hr, and other convenient ways to track your play.

Thanks for the advice, I was going to buy PT but noticed that it was one of the rewards from PSO so I'm just in the process of clearing the bonus for it.
