Checking the flop is bad.

You have to assume your hand is good.

Bet it hard on the flop and push overtop of any raise.

You don't want the ace of spades seeing a cheap turn/river.

I pretty much always assume no one has the flush when this happens. If they do I have outs to the full house.

I think that's called good poker.

Use your full house outs, you don't think opponent has a flush, but it's a distinct possibility which your full house outs bail you out of.

Try to get all your money in on the flop with good outs.

thanks for the input guys. I know I played this poorly. I'm in the midst of a goodly downswing for me (I single table 20s, and have went 10 straight no cash, then one first where I got lucky as hell, and now 5 more no cash) and I have to fight getting passive. I checked with the intention of rasing the better on the flop, but the largish flop bet scared me and raised demons. In retrospect, the largish bet usually means solid top pair afraid of the A spade flush draw, which was exactly what it was...

I am new to the SNG's, but does anyone not limp 99 here early in the tournament in early position? I would think it would be a fold or, if you are going to play, a raise to around 45-50.

I just limp and I think a lot of other people do too.

This early you really only play 99 for set value. You CAN play it for overpair value if a) your reads are good enough or b) you really think your opponent doesn't have a set or higher pair. I don't suggest it though.

yeah, the limp is pretty standard. I consider 10s and lower drawing hands early in a SNG. You can't raise 4 limpers off hands, so don't even try).
