The rset can be a total mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit a porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe.

This could be some old chain mail that everyone's seen, but it's new to me. I thought some of you spelling and grammar nazis might enjoy this.

yeah. I never cared about my spelling or typos before. When I got this chain email, I cared even less.

You could go to snopes or google (http://www.fuckinggoogleit.com) and find out you're wrong. Or you could take my word for it.

I bet you had trouble with the (mispelled) words "cabinet", "stairs" and "tower" in there (which I inserted randomly) because out of context you wouldn't expect them so you can't read them nearly as easily as words you expect.

Well, sort of. I'll concede that much.

From reading this (http://www.mrc-cbu.cam.ac.uk/personal/matt.davis/Cmabrigde/) page, it seems that the OP is marginally correct, although still pretty misleading. While it does seem that the most important aspect of comprehension is the first and last letters, clearly the middle letters play a very significant role. For examples see about 3/4 of the way down the page (find "This is clearly wrong"). Also, the importance of the first and last letters is greatly diminished when we are talking about words in other languages, something that seems to speak against this being some sort of "this is how your brain functions!" issue, which is what the OP implies.

For a shorter summary, read here (http://www.mrc-cbu.cam.ac.uk/personal/matt.davis/Cmabrigde/rawlinson.html).

If my first reply came off as harsh, that's because my email has a filter so I don't have to read this crap. When people post chain emails that are, by definition, [censored] common knowledge, it irks me.
