stud/8: how to get smoked playing split queens

i hate playing split queens in stud/8, and i always tell myself i won't get involved with them, but i invariably do... and i tend to get smoked:

I think the initial completion is good but when the limper reraises i would just call. Lots of hands he could have that you could be behind to. On sixth you have an absolute monster draw. I'm guessing you lost to an Ace high flush or FH, but I would have played it the same besides on third.

3rd. I fold No point playing a big pair unless it's heads up with a low hand.

4th, Remember what Sklansky said in SS1. "Well, I've never played an hand quite like that one!" Same thing, in game with smarter people you might see the low try and knock out some people. As it is, your cheapest option is to check/fold.

5th. Yucky, you might scoop/split, but everyone who is still in the pot has some connecting cards. This is going to get expensive. See also "Compounding Errors"

6th. Yeeech, 1/2 the pot is gone for sure.

7th. The raise is reasonable, but don't be surprised to be snapped off by an low yet Ace hi flush or 77's full

I agree that on third there wasn't much use in playing the hand. Two low cards already called the bring-in and were certainly going to call a completion. There was still a low card behind the hero, and the majority of bring-ins will call a completion with nothing. Basically, the hero would be playing a pair of queens against four potential low draws.
