Event: WSOP#9 $2000 No Limit Holdem

5th level, 100-200 blinds with 25 ante.

Pot = 550 to start

Player A is the table's short stack in the button with only 1200.

Everybody fold to the button, he looks at his cards and folds.

Probably 86suited.

What were the stack sizes of the blinds?

Hero is getting ~1.5:1 in the pot after someone raises.
He must have the worst holding 23-83.

who's in the blinds? big stacks? can short stack damage the blind's stack? Does he have like 25% or more of the blind's stacks?

If both blinds are in the 12-15x or higher range I'm pushing right after I pretended to look at my cards so I wouldn't be tempted to fold regardless.

He can damage the LB, the BB is a big stack but he's not playing too many hands.

I push pretty much any two, especially after description of SB and BB. This is a weaktight fold imho.

He obviously made the mistake of looking at his cards.

Push it baby.

Hero has a sense that he was going to get called (Duh), and did not have a hand to compensate for the pot odds (needs 40%, FE=0).

Damn, I was just about to say that if you think you might get called by one of the blinds you could wait three or four hands because pushing 1100 and pushing 1200 is about the same. But, if there is a good shot the blinds will fold you have to listen to the cow.

Um...this is an auto-push with any two no matter what stack sizes are in the sb/bb.

The name of Player A is here (http://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/player.php?a=r&n=82)

Now that you guys know the name of the player, still think it was a mistake?

yes. i'm sure he looked down at something like 62o, but he still needs to push.

Yes I do, but I understand it more.

Hard to believe Chris could make this kind of mistake, he is a pretty mathematical player. Maybe he thinks he's more likely to be called because of his celebrity status and then he has no FE in the equation. But I think you should push with any 2 in this spot.

He would only push if he had A9.
ha ha ha ha!

Like I said, he made the mistake of looking at his cards.

I doubt Chris would make that mistake if it was truly an any 2 situation. I'm gonna say he knows the math of these situations better than just about anybody except god, and by that I mean David Sklansky.

Is it possible that one or both of the blinds was

1) Making lots of big stackey loose calls

or

2) Looking at their cards before the action was to them and Chris had a read?
