Hmmmmm. Tough one. I think you should have bet the flop. Other than that I guess I play it like you did but I hate it. I could see a case being made for folding for two reasons: 1) if CO is passive enough to openlimp the CO, he probably isnt too aggro postflop, but who knows Ive seen weirder. 2) Your hand seems pretty transparent, which I think is a bigger reason for folding. Still, I cant bring myself to do it getting 6-1 on the calldown. I think it's very close tho, reads would definately sway this one way or the other.
