View Full Version : What would you say is a reasonable BB/100 hands?

presuming you are 3tabling the .5/1 ?

I've been griping about all the supposed bad beats to myself lately until I looked up the numbers and it looks like i'm doing about 5bb/100hands. I presume this is slightly above average for holdem but below average for stud8? Can a fool like me maintain this average in the long term?

what table are you sitting at? I just picked up a nice boost at two tables. I got caught playing 4 hands at once and missed out on two BB value bets and auto folded (timeout) a third hand. Hope you picked up that piece /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Got 1500 hands so far tonite... aiming for 2000 /images/graemlins/grin.gif

You're nick right?

Someone just hit a gutshot straight to beat your trip 7s as soon as you posted my hand history, didnt it?

As for me, looks like i just hit a hot streak. Scooped a nice pot with a pair of threes /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I was pushing 7 BB/100 at the party 1/2 8/b over several thousand hands. I think 8 might be sustainable, or would have been, the games seem to have gotten a lot tighter in recent months. High only was not even half as profitable.

at 3/6, I'm making like 2 BB/100, meaning that i actually made more at 1/2! the sky's the limit at .50/1 i think- that game is soooooo silly-terrible it's be hard not to beat for a high rate. I think you'll be able to maintain 5BB/100 at .50/1 as long as you play it- even more is very possible for stud/8, too.

5BB/100 for .50/1 holdem is pretty damn good, it's impossible at 2/4 or higher, and probably unsustainable at 1/2 as well.

I haven't been keeping track of bb/100h but my hourly at party's 1/2 6max is quite nice.... I think its approaching 3bb/hr... but i only play that when there's a game there better than pacific and inter. I think the bb/hr and /100h go way up when locks are paid off by the crowd.

I'd say that is about average, or maybe a little low for stud. After 18K hands I am making 2.25 BB/100, but 90% of the time that is just playing one table at a time, and about 50% of the time there are 4 or less players at the table.

I'd think it's hard to beat the softness of games at pacific. I think I saw a 1/2 game with 70% average to fourth. That means for every hand where only half the people see fourth, there's a hand with everyone seeing fourth. You just can't beat that! Only downside being I see a game of stud going only once every two weeks, and the suckouts feel preprogrammed in.

Dear Acti,

The better we play the higher the percentage of bad beats we should have.

For example a poor player calls with junk and continues with junk. And then ends up occasionally hitting some miracle backdoor draw that he shouldn’t have been playing. That's how we make our money.

But a good player only starts with strong starting cards, and only continues with good hits. Tight being right, we play significantly fewer hands.

Consequently he or she will have a significantly higher percentage of bad beats than an average player. I am certain that you already know this.

That being said, you make an excellent point. And I feel it is very worth while to monitor our bad beats.

Thanks for raising this interesting topic. With all of the potential risks at the cyber Casinos I feel that this topic is especially relevant.

Sincerely,

Doctavian

speaking of bad beats... I just hit 4 to the straight flush and low, and ended getting scooped by some guy who hit runner-runner-runner-runner-runner higher straight. To make things a little more dramatic. His only out was a 9, and I had one and the guy beside me had a pair of them.

edit: just got 678suited again, and hit the 9suit again, and completely missed everything afterwards, again.

Not bad considering this is probably 30/60 or higher!

I don't usually play all that much... maybe a hundred or so hands every few days? Every now and then I go nuts and run through a thousand or two hands a day.
