I've got a room this Thursday at Borgata, comped.

The only other poker room I like is Taj / Trop. Regardless, is it worth playing only at Gata so that Borg knows that I like their place and continues to extend rooms to me?

as long as you play sufficiently enough at the Borgata to satisfy their comp criteria, then technically it shouldn't matter where else you play on the same trip. for example, if you need 8 hours of play for the poker rate and you fulfill that, then you can probably go over to the Taj or Trop without penalty. I highly doubt that comp hosts monitor if you are playing "exclusively" at their casino to determine comp worthiness BEYOND whatever revenue or time requirement was expected of you.

If you got a comped room, as opposed to the poker rate, it's almost certainly because of your other play and not poker.

I wouldn't worry about poker then. I get comped at Borgata too. 99% of the time I forget to even clock in and out of the poker room. It's nothing compared to comps from table games.
Credit for playing poker is really only worth anything if you are using it to stay at the poker rate, then its important to get your hours in.

I used to count cards but I like poker more now and don't mind playing it. My concern is that I want Borgata to continue giving me this free room during the week even though I'm playing poker. Free is better than a poker rate.

if your room is comped through a host then he/she will want to see sufficient rated play (whether it be BJ or whatever else gamboool you decide on) during your visit. when in doubt, keep an open dialogue so the two of you have a good business understanding in the long run. if you do care about staying on the Borg's good side then you have to show good faith in return for an advance offer like a free room. therefore, I would definitely consider playing at least your fair share of BJ mixed in with the poker. clearly you can't have your cake and eat it too, especially at AC's top resort. if you don't want to play BJ anymore, then your next best choices are a) go for the poker rate, or b) stay at a lessor casino or plain hotel and commute in.

players - i'm in agreement. I don't have a host, otherwise I'd go talk to her about it. Whom would I notify about my new interest? I refuse to tell the phone reps, as I doubt they would know how to deal with this situation.

Unless I'm sadly misinformed casino's are not in the habit of telling players what the minimum they need to do to get a comped room is. Mostly likely they saw you were a frequent customer who wasn't coming in anymore. So they decided to try luring you back with a comped room. Very similar to party giving players who haven't played in awhile a bonus to try and lure them back.

Honestly I think your best move here is to do nothing. They aren't exactly gonna be impressed when you tell them you want to stop giving them action and just play poker.

If you really want to talk to someone go to the high stakes slots area. There is a desk there (not the cage) that has a host at all times.

I called a few weeks ago to book a room, thinking I'd pay $100 for the room as that's the week rate. So after booking the room, I don't know how much the room is, I inquire and am told it's complimentary.

I realise this does not change much, but they are not trying to lure me back. Furthermore, I asked them if I could get a room the next night they say we are unable to comp you two nights in a room, but we'd be glad to give you a night the following week . ..
