Three handed in a double shootout - one winner only. I have 3000, donkey has 3000, and tight-solid has 7500. Blinds 75/150.

I open raise the button to 450 with 7To. Donkey folds. Tight-solid reraises to 1200, so it's another 750 to call. Based on my observation of this player, I am pretty certain he has AK or AQ, and not a big pair. I'm getting a big price and I have position. Should I call and see a flop?

Anyway I did call, leaving me with 1800 chips. The flop was 356 rainbow, and the tight-solid player pushed. Keeping in mind this is a one-winner tournament, what's my best action?

uh, fold preflop, fold on the flop.

preflop, you tried to steal with a bad hand, fair enough, but when he reraises you for more than a third of your stack, you've got to get away. just let it go, and steal again next time.

on the flop, you're drawing to 10 outs at best, and 4 outs at worst. do you really want to finish your tournament like that? especially considering it's not going allin, but calling an allin.. calling here would be really bad.

I agree. You arent gonna win this enough times to make this profitible.

Your raise was a steal, the solid player re-raised you, fold.

Calling the re-raise was bad. Since you did, easy fold on the flop.

On the flop, if I am against AK, I have 10 outs to make my gutshot or a pair. If I fold I am in bad shape with only 1800. But if I hit my 40% shot, I have 6000. Wouldn't anybody try to gamble it up?

NO, but on the other hand... NO!

Why be so eager to CALL from behind this whole hand when you can be the aggressor later? You're not desperate and don't need to try this stuff.

Faced with choosing, I would rather open push with rags (when the blinds raise) than call off my whole stack on a weak draw like this.

There is a huge concept so many losing players fail to realize, even if he shows you an overpair a small percentage of time you are so far behind that you cant just say you have the odds to call, this hand is a VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY EASY FOLD PRE.

IF YOU KNOW VILLIAN HAS AK 75% OF THE TIME AND AA 25% OF THE TIME YOU SHOULD FOLD QQ EVEN THOUGH YOU ARE GETTING IN WITH THE BEST 75% OF THE TIME, ITS NOT A MATTER OF BEING AHEAD OR HAVING ODDS TO CALL ITS ABOUT WHEN YOU DONT HOW VERY FAR BEHIND YOU ARE, IN THIS SITUATION ITS ALOT.
