I have always used Windows Media Player. I am able to make large playlists easily and I like the visualizations. Anyone else use something they recommend?

I use winamp. I started using it before Windows Media Player was all fancy. Now it is just like an old friend that I don't want to get rid of.

The reason I ask is because I recently upgraded to WMP 10 (which I had been avoiding) and I don't like the feel.

How? I just Dl'd the software and its got the Whole Itunes network integrated. My issue with this (and with the new Napster) is whether or not they do/can monitor the music I have in my Itunes/Napster folder (as in a ton of older, pirated files). Anyone have an opinion on this?

Um...they won't. Besides, there's no difference between an MP3 you ripped off a CD you own and one you dl'd.
EDIT: If you're really this concerned, you can just get ZoneAlarm or some other firewall and have it block iTunes from accessing the internet.

I use winamp 2.9, which is, naturally, the last version of winamp that came out before they made the major update to version 3 and sort of redid the whole program.
All winamp of version 3 or later have had a significantly slower interface and whatnot, all in order to implement new features that I never use.

Well, thanks for all the advice guys. I tried WinAmp, and Itunes and in the end they both made me realize how good WMP is /images/graemlins/tongue.gif. I guess it's really just what you are comfortable with.

The whole point of winamp is that it is small and slick and only occupies a small part of the computer screen. Also, if you're into visualizations winamp kick WMP's ass any day. And it's not close.

I have WinAmp open right now and I can't even find any visualizations. It looks pretty ugly as-is....

I tried an older version of winamp. It was so small I couldn't read the titles of my songs /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I just switched to this one...its called Quintessential, and with my headphones, I get the loudest and most undistorted sounds using it.
The browse and playlist making on I tunes are better though.

I started using Musicmatch Jukebox years ago and paid the $20 for the full version. I liked the improvements over the years until the last few versions, which is essentially a resource hog and bloatware. Luckily I kept a copy of version 7.5 in my downloads folder and am using that.

I use double-size winamp. Yes, the buttons do become a bit pixelated but who cares. Winamp is still amazing.

I use iTunes and I'm quite fond of the utility of the browsing and composition of playlists. However, I find exporting playlists to .m3u to be rather impossible as I would like to put this playlists on my mp3 player that isn't and iPod. Does anyone have a solution to this?

I like iTunes because I can play a CD in order, and not just all the songs in alphabetical order.

no one addressed this, but you are running IE over Mozilla. this isn't a matter of preference, one is better than the other.

The Milkdrop Winamp Plugin (http://www.nullsoft.com/free/milkdrop/) provides excellent visualizations. Try it out. (After installing it, you'll have to switch from AVS to MilkDrop in Preferences -> Plug-ins -> Visualization)
