What does it stand for and how do I figure it out? Thanks.

return on investment -- how much you win divided by how much you put in

ex.: 10 $10 sngs, you get 1st, 1st, 3rd, and 7 no places, youve put in $110, youve won $39, $39, and $9 and lost $11*7 = $10

10/110 = 9.1%

You newbies really should start in the zoo (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/postlist.php?Cat=&Board=inet). There is an excellent FAQ at the top of that board. I don't know if it discusses ROI though. If you have any sort of financial or statistical understanding, this should be easy to deduce.

Does anyone have that "evolution of a 2+2er" post? I think I'm turning into Citanul tonight.

I think I've got blueballs. I haven't played an SNG in days.

I did search, it came up with about 3000 posts, none of which explained it to me.

ROI = return on investment. It is (avg. profit - buyin) / buyin, and thus is usually expressed as a percentage.

R.O.I= Rules Of Inquisition

There are 10 of them:

1. Ask what ITM and ROI are.
2. Ask if anybody makes a living playing SNGs
3. Ask if everybody agrees that you should, therefore, go pro
4. Ask if 27% ROI over your first 100 is good.
5. Ask if "this" (insert your favorite difficult decision with aces preflop) is a good example of when you should fold aces preflop.
6. Ask how to change the size of your SNG screens.
7. Ask how many SNGs you should play before you know what your ROI really is.
8. Ask if the $109s are really tougher than the $11s.
9. Ask how to play JJ UTG in level 1.
10. Ask how big your bankroll has to be in order to go pro.

Don't forget
14. Anticipate snarky replies from long-time posters to innocent albeit annoying questions because the moderator of this forum is too lazy to "sticky" the very useful FAQ that another long-time poster was nice enough to write up.
