Is there a reasonable explanation or is it just an aberration?

They're about to be 6-2 on the year and they chased RJ after 3IP and 7ER.

the fact that NY is not that good?

Voltron87

to being 2-5 (2-6?) against the drays. i think you might be overstating your case a bit if you think were not as good as the drays.

no, i didnt mean that. just that if NY wasnt viewed as a great team then it wouldn be a surprise that TB had a good record against them.

this is so awesome, come on haters, talk about how its one game, i want to laugh at you. if you actually believe that, do you think people just watch baseball to see your team win? is a perfect game just another win? i dont watch to see a win, i watch for something special like this. amazaing

How is it not one game? It's always nice when the 8th place team in the AL makes a fantastic comeback versus the last place team in the AL, but it's still just one game in the standings.

b/c they have to play something like .700 ball the rest of the way to have a chance to win the division and they don't have the pitching to do it.

a comeback is nice and all, but the key is they had to come back down a bunch in a game where they had Randy Johnson vs. Hideo Nomo. you shouldn't trail more than a run or 2 ever w/ that matchup.

Voltron87
06-21-2005, 11:05 PM
wait, 8 run comebacks count as two games right?

all that aside, trying to belittle it and act like its not that big a deal by saying its one game is just stupid. there are things called momentum and enjoying watching the game. sure, this and some game we beat chigaco in 6-2 after being up early and dominating both count the same, but which one was more fun?

whenever the NYY do somethign it has bigger meaning than any other team in baseball. this win cures the fact that they have two rookies in the starting rotation, the woest defense in the AL and glaring holes in LF/1B. really it does.

Yankee fans are priceless.

So they put up a bunch of runs against two crappy D-Rays relievers, one of which was just completely hung out to dry by his @$$hole manager, who's clearly trying to get fired.

But yeah...that makes up for the fact that your "ace" pitcher got shelled. Again.

a little. to be sure you'll win the east, i'd say you gotta win 100, give or take. they have to play .685 to win 100 and .652 to win 97. is that doable? yes, but i still don't think they have the pitching, and that assumes both Bal and Bos fall off the pace. Bal's at a 97-98 win pace right now and Boston gets Schilling back and 24 out of their last 35ish games at home, so they may need to play .700 ball to win that division. and that 2nd half schedule isn't as kind as the first (at least, not at a glance) 6 series vs. teams below .500 (3 v. TB, Sea, Oak, and KC) and a bunch vs. Ana, Min, Bos, and Bal

high estimates are a by-product of posting during a spurs/pistons commercial.

Well, someone started a thread during the 20-11 game about how badly tampa was beating nyy. Sublime and others started assuming we'd lose that game when we were 8 runs down. Then, when our offense went to town, we were talking about it in a thread titled "why does tampa have the yanks number?"

I'll make it even simpler: someone started this thread to make fun of the yankees losing to the drays by 8, and then the yankees go ahead and we know how the game ended. Yankee fans laughed and enjoyed the victory in that thread. Ironic.
