I'm going to be in Calgary from tommorow (the 22nd) until July 11th. I'll be playing in two CPT events at the cash casino and then pretty much partying in various places for Canada Day/Stampede. Is anyone on these boards from that area? If so let know what I should do while there.

Also since I will be travelling with only my laptop (leaving those 2001fps at home /images/graemlins/tongue.gif) Enjoy the clearer waters in the 215s for the next few weeks (but watch out stars leaderboard /images/graemlins/wink.gif)

Go Flames Go.

-go to Banff
-don't miss the Stampede
-pubs: Rose and Crown, Point & Feather, Shanks (sports pub)
-hot young jailbait ass clubs: Cowboys, Outlaws
-casinos: Elbow River Inn, Cash, ABS (nice poker room), and others
-nice golfing: Kananaskis GC, Silvertip, Stewart Creek
-fun cheap booze golfing: Shaganappi
-don't miss the Stampede

Hope that helps. I've been out of town for a year, so I'm a little rusty.

That's pretty bang on. Except Leafs > Flames.
Also Stampede Casino is right on the stampede grounds, they recently open their poker room and half the dealers are inexperienced.

Grrrrr, leaf fans...hehe. I went to university in London and it was a tough fight cheering for my flames.

I have no idea what's been going on in Calgary's poker scene for the past year. I'm totally out of the loop and dying to know because I'll be home in a month and a half.

Can anyone give me an update?
What/where are the good games now?
My home base always used to be Elbow River, is the new one open yet?

I also went to school in london, I am playing the tournaments at the cash casino which I just got back from.. ghettoer then I expected... I should be able to clean up from the looks of it though wish me luck!

If anyone is interested I'll let you guys know how I'm doing in the tournies (I know it's no WSOP or anything...sigh next year).

Tonight I will be at some wing place I can't remember the name of right now, and tommorow is the smaller one day tourney at the cash. Anyone gonna be there?

London eh? sounds familiar... /images/graemlins/wink.gif

Good call on the wing place, don't eat that Albertan beef! Good luck with the tournies/ cash games... I hope they're softer than London for your sake! I hear the banks are open a bit later out there which should be good when you hit your daily limit at the ATMs.

Seriously though keep us posted on your various wheelings' and dealings... on and off the table.

Have a good one,
Pat /images/graemlins/spade.gif

If you're going to have wings in Calgary, go to Ed's. Soooo good. It's on about 17th ave. & 1st st. SW.

Stampede Casino turned the restaurant over-looking the floor into a poker room. Around 8-10 tables were serving up 3/6 to 30/60 last weekend.

Cash Casino has 8 tables I think that spill out into the hallway during tourneys. They run 8-table SnG everyday for $20+2 at 2pm and 7pm I think.

The new Elbow should be open by the time you hit town, if it's not already. Never been there.

I went to some place called Regal Beagle, very good wings.

To Pat B. Your a bitch for not coming and I will humiliate you HU anytime on any site for ANY amount for everyone to watch.

I think I will try and get to the elbow as another poster recommended, I will def be playing some 30/60 at the stampede grounds sometime next week.

Also the Calgary Kangaroos (AFL club) amazing race - turn up to Riley Park 2pm tomorrow (Sat 25th) with $25, and we'll try to find you a team. Cruise round Calgary, then party at Lucky's (a smaller club type place on 17th). Whole bunch of hot girls turning up apparantly, and you get to meet ME!

Ok so I tried out the elbow last night after the friends I as with couldnt find any good bars (or even open bars) after 1am... dissapointing. So I ended up playing 15/30 with a kill at the elbow after pre drinking a 26 of stolys... what a recipe for disastor /images/graemlins/tongue.gif.

Hopefully tonight will go better. That race thing on saturday sounds fun but I am playing that 1k tourney tommorow. I busted out of the first one around 40th place (OOTM).

Hopefully the waiver I had to sign about being on TV won't go to waste and you'll see me at the FT (for the Main Event).

One more bump. If you're in town, check out Bull Bustin' (http://www.ranchmans.com/html/specialevents.html) at Ranchmans. It's a country bar, and the best place to be during Stampede (none of that fake cowboy [censored] like Cowboys, Desperados/Coyotes/whatever it is now/Dusty's).
