View Full Version : Hellmuth showing up late

Why Phil shows up late, I don't really care. What I am more interested in is what Phil does instead of showing up on time? Does he sit in his hotel room and stare at the wall? Play some racquetball? Masturbate? Discuss.

He probably stares at himself with a mirror.

I read on some other pro's blog that they show up late because they are more likely to do themselves harm in the first level then good. Maybe Phil thinks the same thing. It also could be some intimidation attempt, like "I'm so good I can skip the first hour of the tourney"

Umm. It's okay, a lot of posters don't read the original post before they add comments of their own.

Asking what he is doing instead of showing up on time is the same as asking why he is late...either way whatever he is doing is the reason he is not there on time...oh and dont ask for discussion if you are going to attack someone who took their time to respond to your post. Just a suggestion...would probably make the forums a much better place.

he has blinded down to 1,400 chips in the latest event and has a 10k bet with someone across the table from him that he will outlast him getting 10-1 odds. On Cardplayers livereport section. lol

Scooterdoo

He's memorizing all of the hand %'s and heads-up odds. I think he's also re-reading David's books, checking on the various forums here and studying Daniel's poker journal. If he has a bit more time, he likes to watch the WPT, Poker Superstars on Fox and he really loves all of the celeb games.

I hate to turn a thread like this into a flame war, but since you're pickin' a fight I will give you one. Wtf are you talking about?

No, it is not the same. At all. So get bent.

I wasnt trying to pick a fight I just think there was a better way to tell the dude that the asnwer he gave you wasnt what you were looking for. The dude has posted like 13 times (which I only have about 100)and this might discourage him from posting in the future. I just think there is a better way to treat people who take the time to respond to your post and I dont think many people will disagree with me. Didn't mean to get you all worked up over this.

I believe he is playing "The Legend of Zelda" on the original Nintendo game system while eating Tombstone pizza and thinking about what he's going to write about next week for his lame-ass weekly column in the Wisconsin State Journal.

Either that, or masterbating.

He spends so much time looking into other peoples souls, I suspect he is out on the street somewhere trying to find his own.

I wonder how much expectation he's pissed away over the years doing this. It's an all-around idiot play in any event, let alone the smaller buyin events where he's losing half his stack for an image play that doesn't pay off.

I agree. If you miss the first hour or even first two hours of a 10k tournament it's not a big big deal. But the smaller tournaments you will be crippled. It's a waste of money and ego run amuk.

Somebody asked him this same question one time on UB, and he said he was sleeping.

It's a pain waiting for the tournaments to start and for them to seat you, so my guess is just decides to skip it.

I know that Chris Ferguson has said that if sleeping an extra hour makes you play better, then you should get the extra rest and skip the first hour. I've also seen pros play late at night online to make sure that they don't go to bed too early when they have a full day of tournament poker ahead of them.

That being said, I think Hellmuth likes the attention of making a late entrance. He may also dislike the crowds and business and potential delays you find at the beginning of a tournament. And he may have once overslept for a tournament, showed up late, and won and now he is superstitious about showing up late.

FWIW I think the nail was hit on the head with him sitting in his hotel room thinking about how everyone will think he is cool when he shows up late. That or spectravision.

Ummm...huh? Of course the original topic was stupid and inconsequential. It's about Phil Hellmuth MASTURBATING. The thing is, instead of the comedic gold that this board is capable of producing, I got crap like "I think he shows up late for intimidation lolzies."

But I guess a flame gone horribly wrong is good enough comedy for me.

Maybe if he didn't let his stack blind off four an hour before play he'd actually win something.

I guess I just can't imagine why anyone would care, much less make a thread about what Phil Hellmuth does in his own time? Actually, I'm dying to know what Phil Ivey is up to right now. Maybe masturbaing!? heheheheh.

Oh, the comedy.

to return this thread to its original purpose - there is a fixed # of things we can be certain phil is doing:

1) dealing himself hands and staring at himself in the mirror. He then proceeds to make himself flop the second nuts only to practice his "look at this lay down I am making" face

2) calling all the ESPN camera men to make sure they know when he is showing up

3) not exercising

4) Concluding that he "can notplay any better" and posting under anonymous names on 2+2 asking us to tell him "what a bad beat he took" (clearly, he is responsible for EVERY bad beat thread)

5) Writing a new book called "don't play poker like the pros - too many bad beats"

6) finishing up his new DVD - "Watch me complain and give you terrible poker advice because, hell, you already paid $19.99!"

7) referring to himself in the third person as "the bad boy of poker"

c'mon we can come up with more - don't hate, participate

Ok, I think I solved this problem. The hidden camera I installed in his hotel room produced the following image ...

http://www.geocities.com/chucknorris47/hellmuth2.jpg

So, apparently, he gets back rubs from some guy that looks like Tony Randall. And I imagine that "Tony" is reassuring Phil that if luck weren't involved, he'd win every time.

Now the more important issue ... Augie, what is your profile picture? It makes me want to murder myself.

He reads gay porn magazines just to make sure he isn't gay, then he picks up a male asian escort and does nasty unthinkable things with him. Then he goes and watches young boys on a park bench before arriving 1 hour late. Is that enough assualt on his character for your taste Augie?
