Live, 7 players. Almost all are loose and bad, but this is BB's first hand. Everybody limps except for one fold. I'm on the button and I limp with KJ offsuit. BB raises, everyone calls.

Flop comes J /images/graemlins/spade.gif 8 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif4 /images/graemlins/club.gif. Everyone checks to me, I bet. BB calls, so does MP.

Turn is K /images/graemlins/diamond.gif. Checked to me, I bet, BB raises. MP flat calls. I reraise, both call.

River is a blank, BB checks, MP checks, I bet.

Straightforward? Comments on all streets welcome.

So you flopped top pair and bet. Then you turned top 2-pair and bet/3-bet. River was a blank and you bet again. What's there to talk about?

This is boring. NH.

Haha. I never play limit, and I'm going to again tonight. I figured if there was something I didn't understand or missed about that hand, then I shouldn't go.

Thank you.

BB most likely has AK, good hand. if he has KK/JJ then oh well sucks you lost, but he cost himself bets

Good luck to you. If you're just starting out in limit you should check out the micro forums (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/postlist.php?Cat=&Board=micro). I know 5/10 isn't Micro Limits but, those LIVE games play like $.5/1 online games. You'll find good, applicable information there.

I raise preflop 1/3 of the time with that many limpers...

everything else looks mmmgood.

Edit: anyone else do this?

Raising preflop would be bad, and why 1/3 of the time? That doesn't really make much sense to me. Raising mediocre hands isn't a good "deception move."

I may raise this for value on the button, but in all actuallity I would probably limp. Totally standard.

while this isn't a 'deceptive move' I might raise with this hand for value at a lose 5/10 table with 7 limpers to the flop. Pushing equity to increase the pot size with a hand that has 2 ways of winning seems like an okay idea. I say 1/3 of the time because it depends on your opponents that limp and this hand is not strong enough to always raise.

because you'll hit the flop about 1/3 of the time! if you're going to hit your pair or your set, best to raise preflop.
