Villian has shown a tendency to raise with Ax or anything connected. He also also shown a tendency to make continuation bets after the flop, as I have been passive. Now I realize that I overplayed these 8s, but given what I knew and that work was calling, was it really that dumb of me to try this?

Thanks for the comments, criticism, and extras...

P.S. Two hands later he has now called me an idiot. I raise with AKs, he reraises and I push. He calls with KTs, and as the final card comes, I ask, How could you call with that?

If he was making a ton of continuation bets post-flop and you really had him on nothing I suppose its not a terrible play. But thats damn bold to call his all-in with only 8s and most of the time your going to get burned in a situation like that.

As he was berating me for calling after the flop, I wanted to ask him why he called my raise with just bottom pair. However, I was too irritated to do that. Alright, I was tilting myself, but I was mad that someone was getting after me because I called them down when they had nothing...

If you had a read that your 8s were likely good then you played well.

Not really when you consider he already had ~3000 of his 3600 stack in the pot. I don't see how he can fold at this point. NH, by the way... You didn't put him on a queen and managed to double up.
