4/8 Commerce Casino. Very LAGish game.

I have A/images/graemlins/diamond.gifQ/images/graemlins/diamond.gif on the button.

MP player limps, Cutoff (very aggressive preflop) limps, I raise, BB calls, MP 3 bets, Cutoff calls 2 cold, I cap, everybody calls.

(16 SB)Flop comes A /images/graemlins/spade.gif7 /images/graemlins/club.gif2 /images/graemlins/club.gif

BB checks, MP bets, Cutoff calls, I raise, BB calls two cold, MP calls, Cutoff calls

(12BB) Turn is the 5/images/graemlins/club.gif
Everyone checks to me, I bet, BB calls, everyone else folds

(14 BB) River is the 9 /images/graemlins/club.gif
BB checks. I've seen him try to checkraise a flush before. What's my move here? Check and hope that I somehow have the best hand or bet out and try to get him to fold a poor club?

Check.

EDIT: If somehow I got to the river as the BB, I would call your bet with the 3 /images/graemlins/club.gif

WOOPS misread the board dumb me....

Yeah you're not getting any small club flushes to fold. The A on the flop makes it look like you were betting top pair (which you were).

The chance you have a club is less than 50% due to the clubs on board.

So any club flush is WAY profitable....

So what happens when you get re-raised?

Against a checkraise I fold, of course.

That's the problem I think.

You can get to show down by checking, it's free take it.

You are risking the ENTIRE pot for ONE more bet. AT 14BB this is not good.

If you fold against a c/r and Villain knows, you'll get c/r w/ bottom pair or whatever non-flush holdings too....

In fact if you think about it, this would be a superb opportunity for a bluff c/r by villain....

Definitely agree to checking. If he was on some sort of club draw, he's made it. He might have had top pair weak kicker and the weak kicker was a club (or some random variety of this); and if he's without clubs, you won't likely make money.

It will be hard to get him off anything half-decent with 14BB in the pot.

This seems like an easy check behind. I am having trouble putting him on a hand, but a weak Ace seems most likely. Ceteris paribus he has 50/50 chance of having A /images/graemlins/club.gif and giving that he called two cold on the flop I think that slightly increasing the chance of him holding A /images/graemlins/club.gif

Yeah, you're exactly right actually. He checkraised, I folded, he started laughing, and I felt like an idiot. I found out later he did have the J /images/graemlins/club.gif tho, he was laughing cuz he thought he pushed me off the K.

He's not moving off any club. He could also c/r bluff here (a very good point brought up by other posters.) I check behind here almost all the time.

I don't get this. Why would he think that he pushed you off the nuts? Did he think you folded your K/images/graemlins/club.gif because you thought he caught the straight-flush with 86/images/graemlins/club.gif? That's ridiculuous!?! You're being lied to - in some shape/form. He may or may not have had a club but, he'd have to have been a complete idiot to be laughing after the hand thinking that you folded the K/images/graemlins/club.gif /images/graemlins/confused.gif
