View Full Version : Getting away from AK in a 109

There's been a lot of 'how do you get away from AK' questions lately so I thought I'd post a hand.

Level 1, 109. I'm playing around with Prophecy a bit for the first time, but no real reads yet.

A guy with '69' in his name minraises UTG+1. I have AK UTG+2 and just call (although I would reraise for sure on the button). The blinds both call so it's 4 to the flop for 120.

The flop is KQx rainbow. The blinds both check, UTG+1 thinks and bets 70. I call (note there is only one draw on board). The SB now makes it 250. UTG+1 thinks for a while longer and pushes.

I go into the tank, realize I'm tied at best and fold.

I post a lot of folds these days. Comments?

Im pretty pissed at having to fold here, but i would. Even at the 10+1:s that i play. If two people want to play for their entire stacks, im getting out of the way with TPTK.

I fold here too, you'll be ahead very, very rarely. And as a side note - not everyone with 69 in there name is a donk /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

In a 10+1, I would beg them both to push and then light a candle in their honor when I called with the best hand.

The question is, when UTG+1 pushed did you say "thank you" out loud, or just to yourself? /images/graemlins/grin.gif
What's your line if UTG+1 folds?

If he folds, I call it down for sure and maybe pop the turn if I'm feeling frisky.

And yeah...UTG+1 butchered his hand. It doesn't matter what he had, really, there's nothing that is correct to push there.

Agreed. I'm not getting away from this hand if UTG+1 folds and I think raising the turn is correct if SB's bet commits him. (and any reasonable turn lead will)

I would almost always fold in your spot.

Really?
UTG+1 bets 70 into a 120 pot after min-raising PF. This means he has two cards and is still breathing. Hero just calls the 70. If SB is aggro he doesn't need a great holding to raise it to 250.

If the action went:
UTG+1 leads 120
Hero calls 120
SB raises to 360
UTG+1 folds

Then I could (and normally would) release my hand on the flop. Is this line of thinking incorrect?

Yeah, I fold this 99% of the time, too.

Here (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=tourn&Number=2042316&Forum =f9&Words=tricky&Searchpage=0&Limit=25&Main=204231 6&Search=true&where=bodysub&Name=27711&daterange=1 &newerval=&newertype=w&olderval=1&oldertype=m&body prev=#Post2042316) is a hand I played with AK where I flopped TPTK and laid it down to one opponent on the flop, though on a vastly scarier board.

Easy fold, IMO. Already a tough play after SBs check/raise. Did Prophcy give you any decent info?

I was at a table last night where one player rattled off everyone's Prophecy stats. His were supposedly good. Mine were good. He made fun of the people with 20% ITM. I very comfortably pwned his arse about 10 times that game. I'm not saying that I thought he wasn't good. I'm just saying I knew I would get respect from him.

God I [censored] hate people that quote PT and PokerProphecy stats mid-game.
