I built a poker table about a year ago, and you can purchase felt at a sewing and fabric store for about half the cost of online felt.

Depending on the size of your table, you can use an old Army blanket as a quick table cloth.

[/ QUOTE ]Agreed. Last xmas, my brother and I went home to our parents' house. An old family friend had mailed Lands End felt blankets: box of 4 blankets for the four of us. I yelled "I call the green one!" and now I have a poker-cloth. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I've seen crummy little blankets at Eckerd for $9.50 on sale. I'm sure they pill and wear, but they're cheap.

Agreed. You'd be surprised at the options available there.

This is why I'm glad I went with the leather material instead of the fabric material that gets fuzz balls, soaks in spills, etc. The leather (vinyl) should be the same price at the fabric store and the cards slide extremely smooth. It's over a year old, used in over 40 games and still looks good as ever.

I purchased 3 sq/yds. of "doe suede", which is a synthetic suede fabric from a local fabric store for about $15. It was an awesome playing surface and is machine washable in case you get any spills or after it just gets dirty.

I use a "no slide" product that is often used on the bottom of rugs between the table and the doe suede. It stayed in place all night and doesn't pill at all. 3 sq/yds. of this material also cost about $15.

Great stuff!
