For the past month every time I go to twoplustwo.com at work I get this annoying "Web site blocked by Web Washer" message. Is there any way around this? My productivity is much too high.

Do you have a network at home?

I have a linux box running web/mail/etc. at home, so I SSH into my house and set up a SOCKS5 proxy through Putty. This basically sets up port 7070 (or whatever you pick) on your localhost as a proxy server. Change your browser proxy settings to "localhost" and port 7070 and you can browse whatever you want.

I guess what I'm saying is...you need to set up a tunnel if you can.

At my last job they blocked www.twoplustwo.com (http://www.twoplustwo.com) but not forumserver.twoplustwo.com (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com) which is all you need for the forums to work.

SSH? Putty? SOCKS5? Sorry, no clue what you're talking about. I am running Windows XP with DSL. My computer is on all day while I'm at work. Is there any hope? If so, HOW do I do all these things you say I must do?

will try that as well. At least it sounds simple.

Try putting in the IP address for 2+2 in the address bar in your browser. This was the way I got around the site blocker at my high school.

The IP for 2+2 is 69.20.77.96

My quesion would be if the IT department could tell if you installed this program. Could be even worse..

unfortunately it's the other way around at my work.

the IP address thing worked, though I had to get the one for forumserver.twoplustwo.com (69.20.77.98). Unfortunately, not clicking on any link brings it back to "forumserver.twoplustwo.com", which means I have to replace that with the IP every time i click on a link.

logging in and posting weren't as simple, since clicking on the button would not work or bring me to a page where replacing the IP did anything. I had to copy the source code and make my own temporary web page, replacing forumserver again with the IP.

It's kinda crappy, but it's better than work.

how much real, actual work do you get done in a given week?

Not much. I just made a custom browser just for twoplustwo at work. There are a few bugs (the back button doesn't seem to work real well, and you can't preview your posts), but it's pretty cool.

Wow sweet!

What is your 'job'? (other than browsing 2+2)

I work 3rd shift as a "Technical Document Specialist", whatever that is.

Basically, I do what I want. Sure, people tell me what to do sometimes, but they're never around when I actually have to do them. I also work alone on Friday and Saturday nights. Sometimes I feel like working, sometimes I don't. The latter is becoming more and more frequent recently.

If anyone is interested in a custom 2+2 browser for work, PM me.

Well, I come in at least 15 minutes late every day. I use the side door so Lumbergh can't see me come in...

OK, I just couldn't let that one go...
