What I meant to post is what if villain raises to 90?

What if BB doesn't call?

With only 740 chips left (even in a 33) and bad position the speculative hand window shrinks dramatically from, say, 1K.

I fold this PF the first time (gotta call the second time around.)

I think so. To clarify: the only flop that you want to see has a four (or two) in it.

Barring a totally freak hand, there is practically no chance you are taking this pot down without another 4.

hmm so I shouldn't be limping with any PP in EP at a 33 level 2+ having played no hands yet?

If so... that's a huge leak that I've been doing for a long time

TT-88 would still be limps for me because there's at least some overcard value to go around and often enough you can get in for 30, but 44...nah, I'll pass.

I fold this preflop too. I'm a big advocate of playing low pairs in rounds 1 and 2 in low limit sit and gos, however this doesn't mean I'll do so 100% of the time. This is just a very bad spot to do so. You are first to act and calling for 30 chips (Id be much more apt to call for 15). Too many things can go wrong here, and the 30 you are putting in the pot is not negligable to your stack. If you were 2nd to act and UTG called, calling is much more reasonable. However with 700-750 chips, I don't treat 30 chips like it's not so important.

Damn I've been doing this for a long time too.

Well this will up the ROI a bit.

You're thinking about calling off a fifth of your stack for set value?

Set Value's good, but it's nowhere near that good.

It's not a HUGE leak. Just don't do it automatically, try to distinguish between times when it's correct to limp in or not. Also try to learn when you should open with a raise instead of a limp. Like if you have TT or 99 and a few have folded to you, or even first to act at a 6-7 handed table sometimes.

Folding the 44 hand is okay, although it's a mandatory push/raise if you are on the button IMO.
