When others on the site are discussing hands and use stats in the form of XX/YY (e.g. UTG stats are 50/15) - what does that mean?

Sorry if this is elementary, but I'm not familiar with those stats nor their meaning. Thanks.

do you use pokertracker? the numbers refer to the opponents % of time they voluntarily put money in the pot preflop (Vp$IP) and the opponent's % of time that they raise preflop (PFR). so, 55/15 in a 10 handed game is a very loose and aggressive player, and you can play against him as such barring any further reads.

a lot of the time you'll see reads based on ridiculously small samples of hands (UTG was 28/17 after 20 hands)

Thanks for replying. So in the example I provided - 55/15 - that would mean that the player enters the pot voluntarily 55% of the time, and out of that 55% they raise in 15% of those instances? Just trying to clarify.

In addition - what are some ranges for LAG, TAG, LP, TP, etc.?

Thanks.

Search for Bison's post - "Some notes on notes" I think it's called. It's got all the ranges in there.

you're right about what his numbers mean - it's roughly equal to flops seen except it removes the free plays (free play in BB, checking after you post in late position) from the equation

as far as ranges
notes on notes - a good classic post (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Board=micro&Number=923884&fpart= 1&PHPSESSID=)

Not exactly. You're right about VPIP (they will put money into the put preflop 55% of hands) but PFR is over total hands, not just the hands they enter with. So 55/15 is raising 15% of hands preflop, not 15% of 55%.
