I have (Jd Jc) Xs Ys Zs
My opponent has (X,Y) P Q R
The upper case letters indicate that I do not remember the ranks of the cards.
I was the bring-in on 3rd and bet 1SB in this 1/5 stud game.
It was 3-way action on 4th when one oppnent ckecked,I fired away IBB and a senior citizen whose hand I described above called.
It's heads-up action on 4th and I fired away another BB.
The gentleman, who appears to be in his mid-80's , glanced at my cards and called.
I knew I was in trouble because he was a tight conservative player.
On 5th St.,his cards did not seem to "mesh" with his hole cards. There was no coordination--rainbow,no St. combo, etc.
I believed he had me beat on 5th.
You've seen my hand.
How would U play it.
BTW,at least 3 of my suited spade cards were folded on 3rd by other players.

Hmmm

Hello Sitting Bull,

Let's talk about P:

No, not the horrible yellow liquid, but the P from your stud example. It seems to me if P were say a ten, you have yourself a through ticket to the river unless his board gets scary (like the dreaded PP).

Now if P was a Q, K,or Ace then you are in a world of hurt when a 1-5 stud player in his mid-80s, who is tight conservative (anyone ever seen a 1-5 stud player in their mid-80s who was not a tight conservative player), is calling down $5 bets heads-up. You have a better chance of seeing Bigfoot drinking a slurpy at your local 7-11 then you do of having the best hand on fouth after an 85 year old 1-5 player calls heads-up for $5 with a Q, K, or Ace as his doorcard. IMHO that is.

The power of P:

I think you need to put your opponent(s) on hands. Then adjust (or not) depending on how the hand plays out. This is very hard to do if you don't even know what your opponent's door card is in a stud game. So in essence what I am trying to say is...........

When it comes to stud, if you do happen to forget X,Y & Z, please try not to forget to P!

Best of Luck

P was a medium ranked card--not a premium one.
BTW,when I say I can't remember the ranked cards,I mean that I can't remember them at the time I'm posting the hand on this forum--NOT when I'm playing the hand at my casino.
How would U /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif play on 5th--assuming P were a medium card??
Hmmm
Just wondering,

To be honest, in the heat of battle I probably would have fired away on fifth from momentum (alian hand syndrome), and then slowed down on sixth when reality had set in. Of course when all the smoke clears on seventh, he's going to flip over his pocket aces/kings and I'm going to wish I was at that 7-11 sharing that slurpy and burito with Bigfoot.

Best of Luck

I hesitated a few seconds, slowly picked up my chips, and neatly placed them close to the pot--I DID NOT FIRE AWAY!
The gentleman glanced at my 3-flush and folded . However,BEFORE he surrendered,he proudly showed me his successful laydown--pocket rockets-LOL! I calmly nod in agreement and told him that he indeed "read" my hand perfectly--yearright! I informed him that he had made the "right" decision(but he never knew it was for me,LOL!)
--Thought I would excrete a little "bull manure"--LOL!
The senior was obviously NOT tracking the cards since at least 3 of my suited cards were folded by other players on 3rd.
I don't believe the "reverse tell" --neatly stacking my chips ---would have been necessary. I think "firing away" would have been just as effective with this player.
