What is easiest type of hold 'em game to beat and profit from (No Limit $10 buy in, No Limit $100 buy in, Pot Limit, 2/4, 20/40 etc.) I'm not looking to make alot of money, just wondering the easiest way to profit from poker while still learning everything I can to get better in the mean time.

Take 80 bucks and give 20/40 a shot. If you don't win, poker is not your game.

This is a pretty silly question, since the answer is completely dependent upon your skill level.

I guess the best profit would be in the 50/100 NL on UB, unless a bigger game opened up elsewhere.

In all seriousness, I think the easiest way to start out is by playing a very low limit Hold Em. I started out at .5/1 at Party, but you could start out even lower at another site if you don't have much poker experience. By reading Small Stakes Hold em and playing, you should learn a lot about the fundamentals of poker. By bonus whoring, playing multiple tables and eventually moving up, you'll be able to make a significant profit too. If you haven't played poker online before or regularly in casinos, starting anywhere but the lowest limit is probably a bad idea.

Exactly. I played $2/$4 limit to start out because i had already played a lot of 3/6 in a real casino. I quickly made a hundred or so, but lost most of it wand decided to buy a book and hit the .50/1 limit /images/graemlins/smile.gif

High Stakes NL if you're REALLY good, but it all depends on your skill.

Most people will say LIMIT HE.

play the higher limits, everyone knows it's impossible to beat lower stakes games, because no one respects your raise.

They may not respect your raises but they play very badly too. And there are some decent players there too, who don't have the bankroll to play higher stakes but are just trying to learn. Low stakes poker is very beatable and teaches a lot of discipline and hand experience to beginners. That said, it isn't the most profitable in poker. I imagine the most profitable would be 9-10 handed high stakes multi table NL.

A loose-passive limpfest at limits within your bankroll.

You're new here, so I'll let you in on a secret: it was a joke, making fun of misconceptions that many new (and not so new) players have. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I'm pretty sure he was joking.

Best way is to learn for yourself and figure out what game is your best.

Play- NL,Limit,SNG's,Multi's, and then decide for yourself which you think you can win at. You may take a few lumps at first but at least you will know which game is most profitable for you and not someone else.

No he is serious. At low limits they don't respect raises. It's insane, that's why I jumped up to the 30/60 on stars with a 20BB bankroll. They know how to play there, it was so much better than those stupid low limits.

He may have been joking, but the unbeatableness of lower limits is a misconception I feel many players believe.
