I have recently moved to florida for work. The only poker Ive found is a str8t two dollar bet high only stud game. Not that I mind playing two dollars (kinda do) but the rake is 5 dollars /images/graemlins/mad.gif How do you beat a game with a 5 dollar rake two dollar max bet and 4to5 way action to river ever hand. Maybe its just me but this is not beatable. I thought the 1-5 stud I learned on in AC were loose games and they are but at least the pot size to the rake is a little more mangeable and people start dropping out on 4th and usually by 5th there are two or three players left. I found you can lose more money in this 2 dollar game then in say a 5-10 if you really get unlucky your down 200 in 1hr. Your big pairs mean nothing when 7 people draw ever time. Could someone please give me advice on how to beat this game. Thanks

I would have to say with that rake and structure the game probably is unbeatable in the long term. If anyone could eek out more then $2 an hour I would be very very shocked.

Save the gas money and play online then take trips to Lousiana, Mississippi, AC or Vegas with your extra winnings.

thanks for the reply beta ive benn reading alot of your stuff on here as for online........well lets just say i dont like it I have a uncanny abilty to lose online. I dont think its rigged I just always play 100% better in live games, dont no why. As for Mississippi the holdem has taken over down south 300 and 500 dollar max buyin No limit games are what rule the southern casinos so no stud untill back up north

I live in Tampa where there are a couple of poker rooms. The $2 limit games are beatable because the play is horrible but it won't be worth your time compared to playing online. I played hold'em a few times, Holdem not Stud. There are a lot of people seeing the flop and the bets don't double on 4th or 5th street so players are correct to call for most draws. It is not good to play in games where bad players are not making big mistakes by drawing.
