Just a shot in the dark. I'm planning to go to Melbourne, Australia next week. Would love to play some Hold 'Em there. Anyone know anything about casino poker there? Thanks for your help.

yes they have a large casino with a poker room. they also have a website so go to a search and find it. its the crown casino. the manager of the room is keith bendigo sloan. he is a great guy and can give lots of hints.

they have a great zoo in melbourne.

Crown Casino, Melbourne is Australia's poker capital (not that that's too hard). They play holdem with limits of 4/8, 6/12, 15/30, 20/40 every night of the week as far as I know. Those limits are in Australian dollars - the US dollar buys approximately 2 Australian dollars so halve those numbers. The rake is 5% to a maximum of $AUS 6 at all limits. Tipping the dealer is not only unnecessary but actually illegal.

The "bigger" holdem games don't always go. If you're up for cultural broadening, you might want to try a LL session playing Manila. When I was there, they also had a half-pot stud game which played pretty big. Stay away from wood-fired pizza #5 at the cpk-like restaurant they have there. Very bland.

hey. thanks guys! this helps alot! moved to singapore from boston... miss driving to foxwoods, so this may be my best hope for decent poker room (even if it is still a 7 hour plane ride). the closest casinos are in malasysia and offshore cruises, and they only have messed up games like carribean stud, pai gow, and shit.
