View Full Version : Waiting until the turn to raise

UTG was loose and passive. MP3 was tight. When MP3 limp-raised, I thought "I've got aces, how can he have them."

With the pot so big I thought maybe this was one of the hands that I should wait until the turn to raise. However I didn't think about it until it was 3-bet back to me. Shoud I have just called the 1st bet, or should I have made 4 to go on the fop?

I think the turn and flop are nothing special, but if anyone thinks I should have a different line let me know.

Cap that flop, it's almost the best one you could ask for. Awful flop call after raising, your turn raise just offered them 11-1 anyway.

You will gain alot more value playing this one fast than trying to find somewhere to protect, in my opinion.

You must cap the flop. You have enormous pot equity.

The hands in which SSH recommends waitng to the turn to raise are those where there are a lot of dangerous turn cards. This is not the case here, just keep raising, the pot is huge and the chances are that UTG & UTG+1 will call the raise.

This is the best flop you could have possibly asked for. No draws available, no possibility of running into trip kings. Waiting for the turn to raise in this case would just be leaving money on the table. If there were two suited cards out there or some combination of cards that made a gutshot likely, then I could see waiting for the turn, but neither is the case here.

Cap the flop.

Q72 is probably the best you could ask for that doesn't hit you so hard it knocks you the [censored] out. A72 anyone?

I actually don't mind your play at all here. Although I wouldn't have thought to do it. You have perfect position to face the field with 2 BB on the turn.
