Personally, I find nothing wrong with using this program, it's basically just an extension of Pokertracker/Gametime+ except that I don't have to manually datamine and it is a huge help with table selection. What I want to know is, how the hell did this guy know? I'm not worried about being reported, but I don't like being attacked like this at a nice table. Anyone else every have anything like this happen to them?

caucAZN78: Dudd is cheating
Dudd: how?
#2214666750: caucAZN78 wins $52.5 from the main pot with three of a kind, kings.
caucAZN78: i'm reporting u
Dudd: seriously, for what?
caucAZN78: u are checking peoples stats!
Dudd: good for me
caucAZN78: cheating
caucAZN78: ruins the integrity of the game
caucAZN78: you will be banned soon
#2214670081: caucAZN78 wins $43 from the main pot with three of a kind, kings.
caucAZN78: i know you are a PE user
caucAZN78: ur on their list
caucAZN78: cheater!
#2214674452: bdoggxx wins $30.5 from the main pot with two pairs, nines and threes.
caucAZN78: u can prolly see my stats and all
caucAZN78: empire poker contact you yet, lost?
Dudd: nope
caucAZN78: i just emailed them
Dudd: good for you
caucAZN78: u'll be banned soon
caucAZN78: they're cracking down on you hackers
#2214678048: bdoggxx wins $49.5 from the main pot with a flush, king high.
Dudd: i don't think that word means what you think it means
#2214682714: awsme wins $50.5 from the main pot with two pairs, eights and twos.

#2214686595: chuckk32 wins $53.5 from the main pot with two pairs, kings and threes.
Dudd: well, -36 at the moment
caucAZN78: a month?
caucAZN78: 1 - 3 k i'd say
caucAZN78: cheater!
Dudd: yeah, I wish I was clearing 1-3k a month
caucAZN78: i clear that without cheating

All that I can think of is that he's using it as well, and noticed your stats were all "N/A".

His stats weren't NA though, so if he was a user, he wasn't blocking his own stats, and I don't know why anyone would point out a fellow user. I mean, talk about scaring away the fish.

Well, NOT blocking his stats would prevent the same method being used to identify him as a user... But I agree that shouting about the thing at the table would be an odd way for a user of it to behave!

Some guy on the Poker Edge forums admitted to it, saying that he was joking around and that his screen name wasn't blocked on that particular skin. Strange way to play a joke though, considering I had no clue who he was.

Oh, nice. About as funny as burning cash... what a moron.

Any PE user can see any other PE users is on, the stats won't show. So, if he had it, then he'd know you had it /images/graemlins/smile.gif

damn, that's some pretty good marketing. having people not see my stats definitely has some tangible value

I think it only hides you from other pokeredge users.

Pretty sure if you use pokeredge your stats can't be viewed by people using poker edge. Thus... they know that you've purchased it if you don't show up in their stats, right?

Of course, he could just be using PT and have a huge number of hands on you with you having reasonable stats, and assuming that since you multitable and you're good, you must be using something to help you out.

Actually, I think I've seen somewhere on the net a tool that let's you see if you're being watched by pokeredge (if you're in the DB). If you're not, then you have purchased it.

Therefore, this guy's at a website punching all his opponents' names into this thing, reporting people who have purchased pokeredge.

Now, just because you purchased it doesn't mean that you're using it, but I'm not sure if Empire will see it that way...

Also, I guess Empire could just use the same site on all its usernames to see who's been buying this program. /images/graemlins/wink.gif

Any good miner already has your stats. Don't worry about it.

This is all just silly anyway. Using PE doesn't violate the terms of agreement any more than poker tracker or taking notes.

well that depends on how you read their new 'AI'/player profiling policy - it's a mess but on some constructions any automated player profiling could be against TOS

the difference from Party/Empire's point of view is that note-taking is supported by the site itself and PT has a wide range of applications that work across many sites and at least some of which (import of HH etc) are positively supported by Party
PE only has one purpose and that is to specifically mine and provide data on Party users - if they were going to attack any tool that wasn't an actual bot then I'd expect PE to be first on the list

I thought about that for a while actually, but to be honest if someone wants to go to the trouble of using Poker-Edge or any other data mining app, then I don't care if they have a look at my stats. All it will tell them is that I am someone you can't mess with easily, and that can't be 1/2 bad.

Seems unlikley. PE actually has a "get PE free when you sight up for Empire" promotion, so the PE guys are affiliates as well apparently (somewhat new, that offer wasn't there when I got PE originally).

I understand the point though.
