This subject came up in a conversation I was having with a friend of mine. I still haven't figured out what mine is, but what is the weirdest thing that is a part of your daily routine?

I sock and shoe each foot instead of socking both and then shoeing. Which apparently is not the norm.

I couldn't think of anything that weird so I'm gonna go with the fact that lately I've put Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle on every night before I go to sleep.

I shave (my face) with a straight razor. In the fall & winter, I douse with a 5-gal. bucket of cold water every morning.

About 8 years ago my mom didn't fully wash out a glass cup. I used that cup to get water and saw the soap bubbles rise to the top.

Since that day, any time I use any sort of cup (other disposable ones) I rinse it out in the sink before I use it. Everyday I rinse out about 2-3 cups before I drink from them.

Yes, I think I have a bit of OCD in me.

Frankly I find it strange that this gets such a reaction from you people. I don't even get why this is weird, let alone an abomination or a sure sign of mental illness.

What about other things? Say you're making a bunch of PBJ sandwiches. Do you guys spread out a bunch of slices of bread, put peanut butter on all of them, then put another jelly-covered slice on top of each? Or do you make each complete sandwich sequentially? If you do the former, is the latter as weird as the shoe thing, and why?

You guys' reaction to this seems very overblown. Can anyone explain?

I asked my friend which way he does it, and he said your way, but "I think that comes from as far back as my parents putting my shoes on." Well, same here, but my dad apparently taught me the freakishly weird way of doing it.

I still think my way is better anyway, you guys shift back and forth between feet too much.

[/ QUOTE ]

Speaking of OCD, every day before I leave, I check to make sure the back door is locked -- several times. Most days (after checking the back door a couple of times) I leave the house, lock the front door behind me, then unlock it, go back in and check the back door again.

No other behavior of mine resembles OCD, so I don't know where this came from. But it bugs the hell out of me. (And it's not like the stuff in my house is so valuable I'm paranoid about burglars, either.)

And I think it goes without saying that I have NEVER discovered that I left the door unlocked by mistake. /images/graemlins/confused.gif
