I got my Protor & Gamble shareholder vote thingy in the mail regarding the Gillette merger. I haven't read it yet, but I had pretty much already decided to buy a good bit more. What are everyone's thoughts on what the completion of the merger will do to share price? If I can anticipate a temporary drop in price, I'll wait til then to buy more. If I can't, I probably do it pretty soon. Any thoughts?

As Grumpy old Buffett put it,( a lifelong supporter of Gillette and hater of mergers and takeovers), its dream merger....enough said. Fill yer boots lad.

I recently bought about 200 shares and also believe that this company is headed for a big boost. It's lagged the market significantly for the past year and I believe that this merger will put it back into the bigger investors minds. But I seriously don't know much about this sort of thing.

There's no question as to whether or not I'm buying more. It's a question of when to buy more. If the finalization of the merger temporarily causes the price to drop (which I've heard isn't uncommon with big mergers???), I'll wait to buy. If not, I'll do it sooner.

Buffett said the same stuff before the ABC Cap Cities + Disney merger. DIS share price has not done so well since.
