Kitchen Table Players?

I usually play at local room on weekends and/or late at night. But I went to eat there(at casino)with my family one afternoon and decided to go check out the action on my way out... I noticed there is a completely different breed of players playing then what I am used to seeing.
The Entire table had to be members of AARP. About 5 of them appeared over 65. And two old ladies looked half asleep. They all looked like they were chained to the table for eternity.
My question is... Do yall think I would profit better if I started playing with these elders? I can guarantee that not a single person there has even looked at a book on Stud. I watched a few hands and estimated about 60%+ call the bring-in. Could my young mind have any advantage over these kitchen table players? Or are there years of wisdom too much for me to handle /images/graemlins/grin.gif

I played in a game like this once at turning stone and the guy at the end of the table couldnt see my cards through his big binocular glasses and would call me every hand until the river and then fold even when I had really scary boards that made the whole rest of the table muck.

Better than what? Better than you'd do against the weekend crowd? Possibly. Better than you'd do on your day job? Possibly not. Older players tend to play poorly. They might have fifty years of playing experience, but it's really more like one year of experience fifty times. They also tend to slow the game down, which makes it less fun and less profitable.

I surely wouldnt quit my day job lol. And you are right about them slowing the game down, I didnt really think of that. thanks

raise ever time you come in, the older players will fold and you can pick up a bunch of small pots by raiseing to 6 (guessing this is 1-5) espically from late postion with a big door card. This older players in mississippi like to play for the bad beat. Like to keep it small 1 dollar two dollars etc. 3 dollars probably means AA or KK, trust me on this I played 1-5 for a year and a half in tunica before i went to AC. Be warned 8 out of 10 times they call your raise on 3rd your beat. Simple game to beat, the players arent really thinking. But the rake is almost unbeatable /images/graemlins/mad.gif thats way I stoped playing 1-5 2-10 . But in the south if you like stud you really dont have a choice.

Haha, I love the guy at the 1-5 spread Turning Stone table who puts the cards up to his face, then asks the dealer what he has outloud, then determines whoever is betting is bluffing and calls him with K-high.
