Is 'chat' used to 'mess with the mind'??

Usually I like a friendly 'chatty' game... but sometimes I get a Bozo that seems antagonistic (like this guy tonite)... Is it a strategy to #*&% with players?? Kinda did piss me off! and might have made me do things differently. Any thoughts... ignore? have snappy comeback? turn off chat??!! Here's just one of his little rants:

Sounds like you made a good laydown with QQ, but it was absolutely terrible that you told the table that. You're just inviting them to walk all over you. They probably won't, but you never know.

I know lots of players have a 'no show' rule... i usually don't tell or show - you're right... less is best!
