Software Recommendation

In Tournament Poker For Advanced Players, David Sklansky mentions that he uses software to analyze the probability of certain card combinations winning against other hands in all-in situations. He also writes that any serious tournament player needs to have similar software.

Do any of you know what software he uses or can any of you offer any recommendations?

One of the features that I like about it, is that it can calculate odds for a range of hands. A lot of simpler odds calculators can give you the odds for something like AsKs vs JhJd, which is useful and all, but most of the time you cannot put your opponent on a specific hand, rather, you put him on a range of hands.

What DS was talking about was hot-n-cold situations, when no more betting is available. I think he was using Mike Caro's Poker Probe way back when. There are a number of free programs out there that will give you that, but they'll also teach you that 22 is a better hand than AK heads up.
Think about the play of that for a while (if you didn't know that the opponent had AK specifically, how happy would you be to face a big bet on the flop holding a small pair?)

If you're interested in straight hot-n-cold situations, plus the ability to set up, test and practice hand combinations where betting is available against different styles of players (in other words, something that simulates more accurately the real world), there are a few programs that do that.
One I'd personally recommend you check out (but I did some testing for it, so I'm not unbiased /images/graemlins/crazy.gif) is Turbo Texas Holdem, or TTH as it is known. http://tinyurl.com/e3aub

The ability to replay a hand, in the same situation, and try different betting strategies is a nice feature as well.
