I think that I would play this exactly the same way. Sometimes I will throw a bet out on the flop to see where my opponent is at but I will usually just check behind like you did.

you don't really need to. opponent will almost always telegraph his hand with their turn action. if he had a made hand on the flop, he wouldn't bet the turn here - he would check to induce a bluff.

Play it exactly the same, except I raise that river blocking bet to 300.

instead of calling off 135 of your chips on the turn and river, why not make a continuation bet on the flop. if he calls, you are done with the hand unles you hit an ace or a king. if he folds you are in a hell of a lot better position than you are currently.
