Is there ever a good time in this position to call with AK?

Stop and Go.

This is one of them IMO. Granted, it's optimal to be the pusher instead of the pushee, but you have exactly 5BB's remaining after posting. Certainly the 3.5x-almost-half-his-stack raise screams strength, but I think you must push all-in here, and 'hope' to see QQ/JJ...or worse.

Why advocate a Stop n Go here? Isn't it better to stop n go with hands like low suited connectors or even any two, rather than strong hands like AK? I push here.

and then I type "I have AK" just to make them hate themselves when they call with worse or to make them just wonder if they fold.

And if they call with a pocket pair I slink out of the room. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I go ahead and push over the top preflop. You'd like AK to see all 5 board cards while all-in. Certainly a stop and go would work, but I'd like to double through here, instead of simply picking up what's in the pot. Also, BB is yet to act preflop.

POOOOSH, you have 5 BB and one of the strongest preflop hands. Go for it!
