Playing in BoDog $10+1 SNG's where you clear $2 of bonus money for every $1 in entry fees. Suppose I come in 3rd for $20. Which is the better way to calculate my ROI?

1) (20+2)/11 which adds the $2 cleared bonus to the payout, or
2) 20/(11-2) which subtracts the $2 cleared bonus from the tournament's cost

Is it even appropriate to consider the bonus in the calculation of ROI?

In general, Bonus money is not ROI money.

For your own personal stats, it really doesn't matter what you record as included in your ROI. It only really matters when you want to do things like compare your results to those of others. Or to compare your stats to what you think is attainable. Adding bonus money to your ROI will artificially increase your ROI over what it "really" is. That's why people don't include bonuses or rakeback in their ROI calculations.

In the long run though, there are 3 categories, right? Negative money, 0 money, and + money, to paraphrase Yugo. All that "really" matters is to try to be in the last group.
