I hear ya. I was a big Sweetness fan and rooted for the Bears that year too. You had to love watching McMahon sacrafice his body. But Ditka is still just an ass. I'll even say Buddy Ryan had more to do with that season than Ditka did. /images/graemlins/blush.gif

I agree with your general assesment, however, Ditka is still THE COACH, if you know what I mean.

Ok gotta chime in on this. First of all, The Dolphins that went undefeated had the softest schedule in the history of the NFL (or close to it). Seriously. And clearly the Bears of '85 had an unbelievable year. So where does that leave Ditka...

Well, I believe he is a merely above-average coach. One year does not a career define. Many average years with the bears, many average years with the Saints. I think the personnel they had in place, and Buddy Ryan, contributed greatly to their success in '85.
