Hey all. I'm just starting to get into MTTs, and I'm busting out early in a lot of tournaments lately. I play 3+0 and 10+1 NLHE on stars. My early strategy is to play very tight (like a SNG), but I'm willing to get my chips in with a moderate hand early on due to the high donkey factor in these small MTTs.
Am I making a mistake by calling all-in in these two situations on the first level of a tournament? Villian has me covered in both hands.
1. I have t1500 and J2 in the BB and take a 3-way flop aginst an utg limper and the SB. the flop is JJ4. I bet 60 and the limper calls. The turn is a 6, I bet 150 and he calls. The river is an A, I bet 300 and he pushes all in and I call. There is no flush possible.
2. I have t1600 and AK in EP and open raise to 80 and the BB calls. The flop is A36r and the BB bets 80 into me, and I raise to 200, and he calls. The turn is a 7, he checks, I bet 400 and he pushes and I call.
