Villian was pretty bad over the limited hands I had on him. 71/17 over 50. No feel for how he plays postflop.

Preflop: Hero is Button with K/images/graemlins/club.gif, K/images/graemlins/diamond.gif.
<font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, MP calls, CO calls, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, MP calls, CO calls.

Flop: (7.40 SB) 7/images/graemlins/club.gif, 6/images/graemlins/heart.gif, 8/images/graemlins/spade.gif <font color="#0000FF">(3 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">MP bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">CO raises</font>, Hero calls, <font color="#CC3333">MP 3-bets</font>, CO calls, Hero calls.

Turn: (8.20 BB) 2/images/graemlins/spade.gif <font color="#0000FF">(3 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">MP bets</font>, CO folds, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, MP calls.

River: (12.20 BB) 8/images/graemlins/heart.gif <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
MP checks, <font color="#CC3333">Hero bets...</font>

The flop call might look odd. I figured if I had the best hand, I could wait till the turn to raise. It also allows me to get off easy if it goes 2 bets on the turn on a scare card. Also my 3-bet likely folds out the player I'm not too worried about.

After MP 3-bets the flop, I still felt like a turn raise was a good play. I would have raised even if CO had stayed in the hand. At the time I was thinking free showdown.

Once the board paired the 8 I got to thinking I didn't need a free showdown. River bet still seems thin to me. I'd fold to a cr. I can't imagine him having an 8 very often. I'd say a busted draw, a 7 or 6 are the most likely hands. Is this easy? Should I have checked? Thanks,

Krishan

i often play it exactly the same way. one thing though is i'm not raising the turn for a free showdown; i'm going to bet a safe river. the 8 isn't super safe but go ahead and bet anyway.

I usually three bet the flop here but I like your rationale for waiting. I'll have to piece that together with the fact that I'd like to get value when this dude will likely call a big bet cold on the flop.

I like it. And free showdown is not an option. Raise and bet for value.

Nice hand. The only other way that I could see this played is to 3-bet the flop.
