I like the push preflop. He left himself with enough of a stack that he could have folded.

That was my thought. If he had pushed I don't know if I would have called...but with a raise of 33% of his stack, I thought there was at pretty good chance he would fold if I pushed.

I agree with the push, just seems if you wanna commit that much to the pot its sort of foolish to not commit the rest since, IMO, its very difficult to play the 99 postflop with overcards on the board. On the other hand, the push looks to be guaranteeing you about a 50/50 or better since i think he'd be playing JJ or higher differently in this situation.

Looking back, i guess what i said was kinda stupid. I guess it'd sort of has to be a read-dependent decision since you have to know how he's been playing with a short stack and whether he'd be going all in with anything that even resembles a good hand, try to slow play the big hands which would then imply that his 1/3 of his stack raise actually signifies a monster or that he was crafty and was bluffing with the small raise in order to make it seem like he had the monster. What does anyone think about how one would interpret such a raise.

His raise is 3X BB. Looks pretty standard to me. I think you're reading more into this than is there. It's bubble time and he made a standard raise, which is less than 40% of his stack. Unless this guy's been very tricky the whole game, I'd take it at face value.
