so I downloaded season 1 of "24" ( yes i know I'm a thief blah blah blah I really don't care) and was all psyched to start watching it tonight after waiting almost a week for the whole thing to d/l


I get all setttled in, make popcorn, the whole deal and hit play on my WMP and the ENTIRE SEASON HAS NO SOUND WHATSOEVER TO IT!!!!!!! /images/graemlins/mad.gif

make sure you have the correct codec installed on your computer

try these (http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Codec_Pack_All_in_1.htm)

edit: usually when you download these, there should be a readme type file that will let you know which player/codec to use...

I'm pretty sure I do b/c it plays the video fine and every other show I have d/l plays perfectly.. just not this one

Soriano is a beast. 2 HRs, then a solid, solid long drive to the wall. Would have been 3-3 3 HR.

I thought this too, until I downloaded somthing that played with sound but not video. I got DivX player and that played it fine.

24 is not that good, save your time, don't watch it.

I'm serious, there are major plot issues and unrealistic situations in this series. I was let down watching it.

Search google for GSpot. It'll tell you if you're missing any codecs. Good program, no viruses, etc.

Ok so g-spot is telling me it cannot find a codec for the file. and that direct show was unable to find a codec to play the sound.. am I screwed?

Yes, he rocks... I haven't had a prob watching torrents with VLC, but it's always a last resort. With VLC you're stuck watching it on your monitor.

"Unleashed" deserved to be watched on a big screen with DTS. I refuse to delete it, 'cause I want to figure out a way to burn this fucker.

I think there are plot issues and unrealistic situations in every series. It feels much more exaggerated in 24 because it was created as a weekly show, not as a 18-hour-long movie. I feel like there is too much drama if you watch it back-to-back, and you'll notice inconsistencies in the plot as well. Watching season 4 once weekly was a more appropriate level of drama, and you forget about the little things from the beginning that don't make any sense when compared to the end.

For me, I'm always rather critical of the technology they use. Sometimes it takes 30 seconds to locate a cell phone user with the phone turned off, and sometimes it takes 30 minutes of an active call. 24 is definitely guilty of stuff like this continually. For me, it's not enough to ruin the show. I just assume that Jack has the worst luck ever, and that the agency that is supporting him has no memory or consistency.
