Villain has been slightly LAG preflop and has featured a lot of check-calling postflop, even when it was clear he was beaten.

I raise-call.

I gotta believe a rivered straight or 2-pair would go for the check-raise here. I would raise this. Folding to a 3-bet seems reasonable against this opponent.

I raise because he will bet hands that I am ahead of here.

I fold to a re-raise beacause I don't see him 3-betting hands I am ahead of.

first time poster here, so correct me if i am wrong. plus i've always gotten my ass handed to me at high limits.

J9 or AJ are not really what you'd play as the villain here. so the straight is out. a set would be out also. i'd probably put him on JJ or AK. he was aggressive pre-flop, but got scared with an overcard or no-pair. the river bet could be a bluff with JJ (not that i routinely try it /images/graemlins/grin.gif)

2 pair on the river is worth a 3-bet to me.

raise and call a 3-bet. folding to a 3-bet is a horrible, horrible error

I would raise-call as well. Folding to a 3-bet seems horrible (I am probably missing something) -- if I were planning on folding to a 3-bet I think I'd just rather have my showdown and call his river lead.

Why? A worse 2-pair/set would have raised the turn. The only worse hand that I am worried about folding to is AK. Based on the OP's description of Villian, I can't see him 3-betting AK on this river. It's rare that someone who is seemingly passive postflop will go bezerk on the river with TPTK.

I agree and I don't see why a raise-fold would be horrible against a guy that according to Entity isn't very aggressive after the flop.

I think AK, KJ or K9 are possible hands for a pre-flop LAG villain. The river looks like he doesn't want hero to check through when an overcard falls. Count me in for a raise-fold against this guy.
