View Full Version : I'm a Pretty Liberal Guy and All But This Sucks

Grew up in the hardcore scene, I'm totally down with people expressing themselves in anyway they feel fit. But I have to think that [censored] like this is just a sign of some extreme psychological issues.

Thoughts?

Maybe he figured if he keeps putting stuff around his mouth, he'll eventually bolt his lips shut so that he stops eating.

What do you tell your grandkids in 40 years when they see that picture?

I doubt people who look like that will get grandkids w/o rape.

I've heard about that...people getting horns installed. Seems like a pretty unethical procedure.

Maybe the guy took a good look in the mirror one day, realized his chances were slim enough and that he was ugly enough that he had nothing to lose. Then made damn sure he would never find out.

Oh [censored].

Ok, here's more to the puzzle. This guy, works for this girl. (Obviously they run a small hedge fund)

People like what they like.
I think he looks like a complete assclown...but it is very obvious that he doesn't care what I think.
The question of whether or not anyone can be considered mentally competant who wants to have this done is an interesting one. (I think that the answer is that it is possible.) However, this question is way too serious for OOT, isn't it?

Yeah, that's pretty gross. But really, does he look that much more freakish then some porno chick with boobs that are literally the size of watermelons, or michael jackson? At least this guy knows he looks freakish, as opposed to thinking that his costmetic surgery makes him more "beautiful"

If this is what this guy likes, I don't see anything wrong with it. I'm really pro body-modification.

I think to say that wanting to do this suggests a lack of mental competence or sanity is just wrong. I admit it's strange but loads of people are into strange things.

I certainly think that body modification involves a question about mental competence. In many cases, the modifications are so commonly accepted that it becomes custom. Nobody is going to think twice about your tattoo (except maybe a big "[censored] you" across your forehead)or your nipple ring. When you get to something like liposuction or stomach stapling, it is vital to assess the competence of the patient. Whether the guy in the picture's procedures should be viewed more like nipple rings than like liposuction is a call you'll have to make yourself.

Well, right. To quote someone I know, "modification is just another standard of beauty."

I think it's weird but it's just a matter of taste.

All kinds of strange are not created equal.

Some people are "just burglars," too. Not saying that this guy is some bad guy or anything, just that all choices aren't on the same level or worth the same.

There's still room in life to say that something is flat-out stupid. Even if nobody else is willing to agree. We all do it, all people and all cultures, whether we want to admit it or not. (I've always though saying you don't judge is a bullshyt cop-out.) We draw the line in different places. I think most people would probably think this guy drew his line in a place that's more than a little stupid, and saying so isn't unfair. Anyone is free to disagree, and I wouldn't wish a jail sentence on them for doing it. But, I would think that in at least one way, and possibly more, they were stupid.

He seems normal to me.

He has speakers on his ears, so we know he is logical.

He even added volume knobs on his lips, so we know he is an 'under control' type guy.
