11 events down

[/ QUOTE ]

He's only played in 8 events, just 1 of which had a buy-in over $2000. If I were someone who had a piece of his action (which I do), I don't mind seeing him bust out early in the low buy-in events - hell, I don't mind seeing him bust out in all of the events provided he's playing his best which I'm sure he is. Good luck, Gavin.

I guess he is just making us wait till the main event final table to pocket some cash.

as of right now, I'm a little glad I invested only 1/2 a percent -

but I could easily live to regret that decision.

They always pay slightly less than 10% so an average player would cash in 1/10 events. With the lower buyin events with huge fields such as the 1500 events I would expect a lower percentage of cashes but a higher overall earn perhaps 3-4x buyin but still unlikely.

So I suppose a really good player could average cashing 1/8 times but one would also certainly have extended periods with zero cashes.

Given the laisse-faire attitude we've seen in your sports bets, this post doesn't surprise me

Let me be the first to say, I think you will be able to look back at this thread and think how silly it is.

Huge fields = huge variance, but he'll put in some nice tourneys. =)

I know it is silly. That doesn't mean I can't hope he takes down 11 bracelets this year.

Don't you guys have a private e-mail list for this stuff yet?

It's nice to be supportive of a 2+2-er.... I hope he does well too. But starting threads just because some of you have a percentage of him (which no one outside of the backers cares about) is silly.

Duly noted. And I don't actually care one way or the other about this thread. I know that everyone means well. I just felt like stirring the pot a little assuming there was one to stir /images/graemlins/wink.gif

Paulie at Pokerpages recognizes him, so he's put on the list of people still seen there about the 2nd dinner break -
gonna be a tough, tough field though.

pokertrails had him at 35k chips at one point

pokerpages just listed him as still in with 167 to go

I feel a huge finish coming on guys...to the tune of $600k for first? Yes. That is what I'm feelin'.

2 Gavin Griffin $ 53,000

CieloAzor
06-15-2005, 01:46 AM
Yeah, I was just looking on Paulle's blog and I think he was at 55k.

I'm not backing him but I do have him at #1 in Negreanu's fantasy pool. I'm doing fairly well so far...should he win an event, I'm almost guaranteed a prize.

So uhh, go Gavin and Fischman!

Maybe its because the events have like 1000 entrants??????

augie00

Holla! 58 remain, 31 get paid:

Gavin Griffin - $30,200

Seems to be right around the middle of the pack. I feel a run coming on. 600k is coming your way, Gavin! (well, not all of it) Harde-harhar

36 left, is griffin still in? He didnt bust out in the money yet but I cant find anywhere that confirms he made it to the money because they didnt list every name that busted out before the money. They haven't listed him on the notable chip counts on card player or pokerpages.

There were a few names listed that busted out pre-money, he wasn't on it, he had a decent stack so i would say its 80/20 that he is still in.

I'm not following anything but this thread. But, it would be a bit unusual for a former WSOP bracelet winner to not be mentioned in the updates.

As someone who has been following the updates, I dont find it unusual in the least - he has not been mentioned in any of the cardplayer updates when they list 'notable' players throughout the WSOP so far. He has also been omitted regularly by other sites that report chip counts, etc.

The only place I find his name regularly is with Mike Paulle's updates on pokerpages - I emailed Mike the first day of Event 2 when I did not see Gavin's name listed and asked what was up - he said he forgot what Gavin looked like but would find him and include him on all his updates from then on - Cardplayer seems to go out of their way to omit him from their 'notable' player chip counts.

i emailed the woman covering the $5000 event on pokerpages, i'll let you know if she responds (probably wont)

Whoops, that was fast..

He is still in. They are on dinner break right now and since they have shuffled the seat assignments, Ill need to wait to get you that.

There's 4 tables left, is Gavin that undistinguishable that she doesn't know who he is? Also, what are the chances she thinks you're talking about Gavin Smith, who IS still in the tournament.

who knows....he doesn't look like he did on the WSOP last year, no long frosted hair, so maybe no one recognizes him -

I wouldn't know him if he wasn't a 2+2'er - I think they give out those WSOP bracelets in crackerjack boxes these days so everyone has one -
