When this kind of thing happens, I just assume it's bad luck, there's nothing I could have done about it, and it will hopefully all even out in the long run. But maybe I'm missing something, so please comment.

Firstly if you're going to value bet that river don't pussy foot around. You will almost always get destacked in this situation so don't worry about it. It's happened to me once in like 20k hands so take it and move on.
