Just moved back to San Diego yesterday for the summer, dusted off an old monitor from the garage and hooked it up through a DVI-VGA connector.

Anyways, this is what people who are poor do when the want to play a ton of tables /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Some of us really poor (ROI _is_ supposed to be negative right?) just stick to one monitor, since when did multiple monitors become a requirement? /images/graemlins/smile.gif

nice, I like how 2+2 is front and center while poker is relegated to another screen.

The two monitors on the right are actually quite nice for 19" CRTs, but yes compared to most people's 2001fp setup I am very ghetto.

I like CRTs, why are they are ghetto? They do have their advantages, though maybe not for poker. I think people like LCDs so much cause it looks like your setup is out of startrek or something.

ewwww. CRTs kill your ROI

Well, you are probably fine with either for poker. LCDs are getting better and cheaper, but CRTs will always have thier place. Off the top of my head...

LCDs are easier on the eyes
LCDs are smaller and lighter
thats about it...

CRTs are cheaper
CRTS can do whatever resolution you want (can be very important based on application)
CRTs have higher refresh rates
LCDs can still have ghosting problems, though this is being improved upon
CRTs have better color and contrast and probably always will

A lot of these issues can be very important to FPS gamers (like me) and graphics professionals.

nice setup.

I have a 22" viewsonic CRT.. it cost about $500 (the same as the lcd I'm talking about)
I'm planning on adding a 21" dell lcd (one of raptor's, whatever the model name)... they can do 1600x1200.. so I'll 8 table poker, and just switch to CRT only for games/etc.
=D

Your 2001 FPS has a native resolution of 1600x1200, right? You can use other resolutions, but picture quality suffers. What do you mean high refresh rate drives you crazy? Refresh rate is the # of times per second the picture is displayed. The higher the better.

I play the battlefield series of games. The BF2 (http://www.eagames.com/official/battlefield/battlefield2/us/home.jsp) demo just came out this week and it is amazing.

I win STT's Most Ghetto Rig award. And it's not even close.

I have a 5 year old Compaq Presario notebook with a 766 MHz celeron processor, 192 MB of RAM, and a KICKIN' 8 MB video card (on-board, w00t).

It had a 15" LCD, but one of the components literally caught on fire, and the screen no longer works. Instead, I have a cheapo 17" CRT plugged in, and I'm using that at 1280x1024 (highest res it and my video card can support). I four table with massive overlap, which I tell myself builds character.

I do fine with this setup, but as soon as I can swing it, it's time for a new computer and dual huge-ass LCDs. This CRT only has a 60 Hz refresh rate at this resolution, so sitting here playing for a long time can really wear you out.

LOL, you win, DasLeben. That set up is so old it's almost perverse.

Couldn't you cut back on toilet paper, or, I dunno, oxygen for a couple years to afford better, or something?
