View Full Version : BBQ
Big BBQ festival is happening at Madison Square Park, which is behind my apartment. Linky. (http://www.bigapplebbq.org/) Went late yesterday and the it was too hot to wait out the absurd lines, so went to K-town and grilled our own 8 blocks away. I love NY.
Gonna try again today in an hour when it opens up.

I was there, I thought about calling you but I was with my roommate. Show up 1 hour early... the lines were beyond ridiculous. Event secret - Buya Bubba Card.
Nothing like watching a 1/2 million of NY's most beautiful people chowing down on BBQ while listening to old-school skittle music.
My amazing feat of the day - I actually found a parking space!

NYC is overrated.
Had brisket from The Salt Lick in Austin Tx. Really good. Be back for more later.

Change of plans. Too hot for more lines in the sun and smoked meat, so gelato instead for the afternoon.
New flavors tried:

watermelon sorbet
coconut

Is Watermelon Sorbet gelato or sorbet?
I always mean to stop by the Eli's (81st/3rd) gelato stand and I always forget to.

A friend recommended Spanky's (http://www.spankysnyc.com/) in NYC. Any of you guys been? And before anyone mentions it, I don't think Blue Smoke is very good.

I'll give it a try soon. I agree about Blue Smoke, although their Key Lime Pie is first rate.
