Really read-dependent. I'm not a huge fan of getting my chips in here, even if you are a 60% favorite. You can fold and find a better spot than this.

I would usually fold.

UTG minraised off 2/3 of his stack, which should be very scary unless he's silly enough to make an apparent trapping raise to gain fold equity in a 55. I fold almost always.
See, this is a good question.
I posted a hand kind of like this before.
I guess it depends on the read and your stack size. Usually I fold this just because of the stack sizes and strength of the hand but in that thread it was said I was too tight here.
I need to learn more about this play, when to fold and when to come over the top.
What do you do with 22 here? 66? 88?
Plus like said, everytime someone raises instead of pushing when they only have a few chips left, they have a monster.
(thats what it seems to me anyway)

Definitely fold 22, 50/50 between pushing and folding with 66, and definitely pushing 88.

I've noticed a trend of players doing this to try and suggest that they have a huge hand when they don't. I've since decided that I would treat a raise like this as an all-in.
Curtains--why fold? Isn't UTG's range well behind A8o? And with the blind money, I'm getting good pot odds.

I would probably fold 22 with my stack in this situation. I would definitely push 66 and 88.

no way man this is an easy fold. you gotta start understanding and have a better feeling for the gap..
if i was doing something else the whole game and didnt have a read on my opt i wouldnt call with less than A9s A10 maybe
k my bad i went cowboy on this one. but a lot of my decision would be based on how much he has raised all in b4 this hand. im prolly still gonna fold A8 and call A9s .

I'm not a fan, but I don't think it is abysmal.
I used to take the gap way too far. I used to fold AJ here sometimes and hands like 77.
Changed that though.

I'm very interested in getting a lot of opinions on what the bet implies about the raiser's hand.
My impression is that it usually means a stronger hand.
From the last 2 nights, when people have done this they had AA and KK everyttime. /images/graemlins/grin.gif /images/graemlins/grin.gif /images/graemlins/grin.gif

the bet isnt gonna imply anything . it depends 100% on the player whos doing the bet and the situation at the table

I find that this bet almost always indicates a very big hand. If we're assuming that it doesn't, and that UTG is raising even slightly tight (ie 22+, A2+, K4o+, K2s+, Q9o+, Q8s, JTo, J9s+) then this is any easy push. But I think that that's a very bad assumption, and barring a read I fold.

Depends on your read of your opponent and the image you've been putting out there. He's got enough of a hand that he's willing to commit all his chips...but he doesn't want to right off the bat. A monster pair, or two high cards.
If you've been showing tight, this can be a good play.
But with a well-defined 1st, 2nd and 3rd chip position, this is a fold.

Hey, isn't your avatar from Mike Tyson's Knockout Boxing from the Nintendo? What's his name? Or am I out to lunch?

Not standard, but playable. I think that sums it up. A bead on UTG would be nice here.

If he is a good player I will fold this in an instant (which of course good players can exploit).
If he is loose and has minraised all game long I will push.

Man I used to love that game. I could never beat Mike Tyson though. He used to pummel me like Robin Givens.
In what part of Winnipeg is Hippo Island? Is that near the Club Regent Casino?
