live satellite to a local casino multi-table. 10 players, first place gets entry, second gets money back. 5 players left. i have t6100 w/ blinds 300/600.
i just went all-in SB against BB who only had t1100 including his 600 blind. BB did not call.
next hand im the button. everyone folds to me. SB has 500 and i figure has to know he is all-in now, even though he didnt go in last hand when i thought he was. BB is a very aggressive/smart player with t4000.
i look down at Q /images/graemlins/heart.gif-10 /images/graemlins/heart.gif

what do i do here???

Easy push with your much better than average hand against a guy who won't call without a monster and a guy who has random cards.

I have an unorthodox play: Minraise.

It is enough to put shorty all-in and since we assume that a minraise isn't your usual play and SB is smart, he might take it as a sign of strength. Even if he goes over the top, you can get out of the way.

If this reeks of FPS, then just limp or fold. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Eww.

No, I don't think minraising is correct here. It's really just unnecessary, and opens you up to the risk of BB pushing over the top on a resteal.

OP mentioned that the BB is an aggressive/smart player, which is key to this play. If he's smart, he's not going to call an all-in without something big (as adanthar said). SB is going to be all-in here, and QTs is plenty good to put him in with. Even if he has cards better than your hand here, it's still +EV to do this.

Push, and it's not close.

I *occasionally* like minraising (and I mean very occasionally) when the short stack is the BB, but here, this basically invites a 3 handed flop. That sucks.

Push it.
